WWE is constantly filing trademarks and it looks like the company has filed two trademarks for potential new ring names. On February 18th, WWE filed to trademark Tristan Angels and Dorian Van Dux with the USPTO.
The full description for the trademarks reads as follows:
“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment”
At this point in time it’s not clear who the potential names could be used for. A number of wrestlers have received new names when joining the company including Powerhouse Hobbs who recently debuted as Royce Keys at the Royal Rumble.
One way or another it will be interesting to see who ends up using these names in the months to come, if they are used at all.
