WWE Extreme Rules Complete Results And Analysis

It’s time for WWE’s most extreme night of the year. Extreme Rules 2017 was a card set to either flourish or bomb hard. It just all depended on how WWE chose to book it.

The main event of the night was a fatal 5-way match to determine the #1 contender for Brock Lesnar’s Universal Title. Whoever wins the match is pretty irrelevant because Lesnar is probably going to just beat them. But it will be nice to see the Universal Title on TV in the weeks leading to the match.

Bayley and Alexa Bliss were set to do battle in a kendo stick on a pole match. As weird and weak as a stipulation that might sound at least Judy Bagwell got on a pole one night so we can never say it’s the dumbest.

Speaking of dumb the IC Title was being defending in a rather odd match at Extreme Rules. If Dean Ambrose is disqualified, then Miz wins the IC Title. That not only means there is a possibility of DQ in a match at Extreme Rules, but if it ends in DQ it benefits the… you know what? Let’s just move on because it’s starting to hurt my brain.

The Hardy Boyz were facing Sheamus and Cesaro in a cage match for the Raw Tag Team Titles. Now that’s a match deserving of an Extreme Rules PPV.

It looked like it could be a great show or have the possibility as being remembered. But as with everything WWE does, it all depends on how they book it. But in the end, WWE is Vince McMahon’s toy chest, we just get to watch him play.

Kalisto vs Apollo Crews (Kickoff Match)

This kickoff show match was announced earlier in the day. Apollo Crews has aligned himself with Titus O’Neil and his “Titus Brand.” We have no idea what it takes to a part of the Titus Brand except for take a wicked selfie and cheat to win. But they picked Kalisto as their target and Crews was set to take him on.

The two started out simply enough. Kalisto got the first move off with an arm drag takedown and Apollo got some motivation from Titus. Once they got back to action, Kalisto seemed to overcome Crews with his speed until Apollo hit a dropkick to slow him down.

Crews took Kalisto’s back and shot Kalisto off the ropes. The former Lucha Dragon returned by walking over Apollo on his hands and later hit Crews with a flipping dive to the floor. He tried another high risk move, but was met with a kick from Apollo that brought him down. See, this is what people are talking about when they complain about wrestlers doing dives in the opening match. But with a PPV like Extreme Rules to come there will be plenty of gimmicks used so it probably didn’t do much harm.

Crews kept control of the match and applied a headlock to Kalisto to keep him down. Kalisto countered with a roll up pin for a two count. Apollo hit a clothesline and got a two count of his own.

Apollo and Titus started arguing and Kalisto used the distraction to fire off a few kicks to Apollo’s legs. Kalisto dodged some offense from Crews and ended up taking another high impact move for a two count.

Kalisto stated to feel it and rose his hand to charge his ‘special meter.’ He flipped off the top rope, but was grabbed by Apollo. Crews tried to do something with Kalisto, but he held onto him. Kalisto rolled him up into a two count and the crowd popped because they thought it was over.

After another short sequence, Kalisto countered with a DDT for another two count. Kalisto rolled to the apron and got a “Lucha” chant going. Apollo got to his feet as Kalisto jumped on him but Crews grabbed him and hit a Samoan Drop. But he didn’t get the pin. Instead he hit Kalisto with a standing shooting star press for another two count.

Apollo kept getting some coaching from Titus and it become a big distraction. Titus jumped on the apron and kept arguing with his protégée. Suddenly Kalisto grabbed Apollo Crews and used Titus as a human wall to climb up and hit the Salida del Sol for the win.

It looks like the Titus Brand might implode before it ever gets going.

Dean Ambrose vs Miz (IC Title Match If Dean Is DQ’ed He Loses The Title)

Dean Ambrose said he wasn’t a brand like Miz, he’s just Dean Ambrose. Pretty sure WWE owns the copyright to The Lunatic Fringe so we wonder if Dean’s throwing away those royalty checks he gets in the mail.

The stipulation for this match was frustrating and not appropriate for Extreme Rules. But there was nothing anyone could do about it. Therefore if Maryse jumped in the ring and just went apes— on Miz causing a DQ, then her husband won the title.

When the Miz’s 92nd PPV match started they took some time to soak in the crowd. Dean laid in a head lock and shot Miz off the ropes for a shoulder tackle. Miz begged off in the ropes and got back to his feet.

Dean faked a kick during a test of strength set up and tried to lock him up in a head lock, but Miz got around Dean and then countered out of the hold.

Dean finally went a little unhinged and beat Miz against the ropes, the ref started counting as Miz hung to the ropes and they toyed with the whole DQ angle. They went for the same spot once again with the same result and Dean broke up his assault each time before he could DQ him.

Miz got dumped outside and Dean hit a suicide dive on him. Then he tossed Miz into the barricade next to the foreign announce tables at ringside. Dean threw Miz against the apron and got back in the ring before a countout.

Then Dean grabbed a chair because that’s a good idea in a match with a dumb stipulation like this. They played with the chair a couple of times and Dean didn’t use it either time. Miz tried to make it look like Dean hit him with the ref’s back turned. They were trying their best to make chicken salad.

They returned to the ring and Miz hit a DDT on the apron. That’s the hardest part of the ring! Miz threw Dean back in and got a headlock on Ambrose.

Dean and Miz ended up standing toe to toe and Ambrose started landing some working punches until Miz counted an Irish whip with one of his vintage moves for a two count. Seriously, Miz has wrestled 92 PPV matches at this point. In eight months we’ll be talking about his 100th PPV match because he is rarely left off one. Not bad for a guy who started on the Real World doing an impression of The Rock.

Ambrose and Miz wrestled around for a bit more and traded some moves. Miz took control and started hitting Dean with some punches of his own. He wrapped Dean up in the ropes and tried to rearrange his face by stretching it. What a classic heel move.

Dean started to let the fans’ chanting amp him up and tried to create some separation but it didn’t do him much good. Miz just got him back down and started punching him in the face.

Dean ended up in the corner and took three stiff looking corner dropkicks from Miz and followed it up with an intense vintage clothesline in the corner. Then Miz went for a top rope move but Dean countered. Miz tried for a Skull Crushing finale, but Dean slipped out of it.

Miz ended up on the floor and Dean climbed to the top rope and landed that standing elbow drop thing he does. He hit Miz pretty solidly there. Dean threw Miz back in the ring as the ref counted to eight and started laying the hurt to Miz.

Ambrose hit a few clotheslines and a fisherman’s suplex for a two count. Dean went for a running bulldog, but Miz countered out of it and they traded some moves for a close near fall as Miz got his shoulder up at the last second.

While Miz was on the mat, Ambrose climbed on top but ended up flipping over Miz. Ambrose went for another hold but got shot to the corner where Miz hit him with a couple shots. Dean counted into a sunset flip pin but Miz countered it right back with a figure four leg lock.

Dean Ambrose sold Miz’s figure four well but finally got to the ropes to break the hold. Miz went for another figure four but Ambrose countered with a roll up for a two count.

Ambrose climbed to the top rope, but Miz caught him up there and racked him. Miz climbed up to join him and they teased a superplex before Dean just turned it into a powerbomb but Miz held onto the turnbuckle and the padding came off to leave it exposed. Miz slipped out of the powerbomb looking move and Dean went to smash him into the exposed turnbuckle. The ref stopped him and in his confusion, Miz caught him with a running knee for a close two count.

Miz laid on some of his best Daniel Bryan kicks until Dean caught his leg and slapped on his own figure four. Miz acted like he was going to tap before he reaches a couple more centimetres to grab the rope that was within his reach anyway.

Miz went for a Skull Crushing finale, but Dean countered and then hit his clothesline off the ropes that he does. Maryse got on the apron and Dean ran to get her off the apron. Miz charged at him and almost hit Maryse but he stopped.

Then Miz told Maryse to slap him. The referee saw the slap and acted like he was going to DQ Ambrose. But he got wise and kicked Maryse to the back. Then Miz shoved Ambrose into the ref and sent him topping through the ropes to the outside.

The referee looked pissed and acted like he was going to call the match and distracted Dean enough for Miz to sneak up and hit a Skull Crushing Finale. 1-2-3 and Mike Mizanin starts his seventh intercontinental title reign.

Just an outstanding finish. Or, to borrow a word from Miz it was awesome. They actually pulled off using the weird stipulation to their benefit. The match had an actual story to tell there and Miz makes a much better IC Champ than he does without it. In the words of Borat: “great success.”

Noam Dar and Alicia Fox vs Rich Swann and Sasha Banks

This feud is here to test the idea that Sasha Banks makes everything better. Other than The Boss’ involvement in this match, the story of Noam Dar vs Rich Swann wouldn’t have anywhere near the same interest. They certainly wouldn’t be on a pay-per-view.

The men started off this cool-down match after a great IC Title match and traded some moves until Swann took control. Noam Dar got to his feet and tagged in Alicia Fox, well he actually hugged her in. It was cute.

The ladies started trading shots as the girlfriend yelled “it’s the battle of the weaves!” Banks got distracted for a moment and turned around just in time for Fox to kick her in the face.

Foxy knocked Sasha back down as Michael Cole went though the hurricane of love that is Alicia Fox’s life. She went from Cedric Alexander to Noam Dar the over to Rich Swann and then left him for Dar. It was all quite confusing and very meh.

The men got tagged back in and Rich Swann started lighting up The Scottish Supernova.

Dar revered out of a hold for a roll-up two count and then they traded a few more moved until Dar hit a stiff forearm uppercut which was returned by a kick from Swann to keep both men down.

The women started to brawl on the outside and the men went out to join them. With Foxy on the outside, Banks climbed to the top rope but she was really far away from her. So she had to awkwardly walk over to where she was within range of Banks. Dar jumped in to save Foxy so he got hit with the double knees from Sasha Banks instead.

Since the men were legal, Dar got thrown back in the ring and took a 450 splash from Rich Swann. 1-2-3 and the babyfaces danced in the ring.

The Drifter Plays Extreme Rules

Elias Samson was shown in the ring to play a little song for us. This was an unexpected surprise. Instead of singing, he said “hello, I’m Elias Samson and I have a question for you tonight. Who wants to walk with Elias?” Then he said he decided to write a song for everyone. The crowd was boing something fierce.

As he started singing a song about how Baltimore is bathed in filth and the city’s so depressing and how everyone’s to blame. People hated him. So he was doing his job.

This song showed much more guitar skill than the typical strumming we were used to. His lyrical promo was actually pretty ingenious and he got a massive amount of heat.

As The Drifter finished up his song people were waiting for someone to come out and end it for him. But nothing like that happened. He just concluded his musical promo and that was it. The only thing that was really accomplished is The Drifter got some heat and everyone hates acoustic guitars just a little bit more than they already did.

Alexa Bliss vs Bayley (Raw Women’s Championship Kendo Stick On A Pole Match)

In Alexa Bliss’ words the first person who gets to the kendo stick gets to legally inflict pain on their opponent with the stick. So all people need to do is put something illegal on a pole and get to it for it to become legal? Good to know.

Bayley came out to a good ovation. Her wacky waving arm flailing inflatable Bayley buddies surrounded her and The Hugger looked ready to go. She looked up at her Hugger Section and then to the kendo stick on the pole. She needed to get to that stick before Alexa Bliss. It won’t end the match, but it will give her a pretty neat weapon to use.

Bayley said she learned how to use a kendo stick by watching Sandman and Tommy Dreamer. Wouldn’t it be great to see Bayley do a Sandman entrance with a cigarette in her mouth drinking a beer and smashing the beer can on her forehead? That would be neat.

The fought for position for a bit before Alexa sent Bayley to the floor outside. Bliss went for the kendo stick and Bayley met her at the top and punched her. Bayley grabbed the kendo stick and it fell in the ring as both women fell to the outside of the ring.

Well that didn’t take long for the kendo stick to fall. They scurried for the stick, but Bliss pulled Bayley to the outside. Bayley hit a belly to back suplex on Bliss to the mat outside. Then The Hugger rolled in the ring and grabbed the kendo stick.

Alexa Bliss looked worried. Bayley jumped out of the ring and chased Bliss around with the stick. They returned to the ring and Bliss immediately started begging off. Bayley went to swing her stick but wasted too much time. Bliss tackled Bayley and grabbed the kendo stick form her.

The Five Feet Of Fury showed how she got that name by tattooing Bayley with kendo stick shots. Bayley finally got to her feet and hit a Bayley To Belly on Bliss but didn’t follow up with a cover. Bliss rolled over to the kendo stick and secured it in her grasp.

Bliss propped the kendo stick in the corner and sent Bayley into it for a strange bump. Then Bliss hit Bayley with the kendo stick a couple more times and hit a DDT. Bliss got on Bayley for the pin. 1-2-3 and Alexa Bliss retained her Raw Women’s Championship in what was pretty much a squash match in some respects. Alexa never got hit with the kendo stick and never really had a chance of losing the match except for the Bayley To Belly she was able to pull off.

The Hardy Boyz vs Sheamus and Cesaro (Raw Tag Team Titles Cage Match)

Before the match started they said the only way to win this match is for both members of a team to escape from the cage. The Hardys teased Jeff taking a dive off the top of that cage during the Kickoff Show in the social media lounge. So that was still very music on the table.

The Hardy Boyz wanted to prove they were not a nostalgia act. They wanted to prove they were the best tag team in space and time. The crowd was fully behind Matt and Jeff as “delete” chants filled the arena.

Sheamus and Cesaro automatically went to climbing the cage from the get-go. The Hardys had to pull them down each time. It looked like they were looking to get this match over with quickly.

Jeff Hardy took out Sheamus as Cesaro threw Matt against the cage. Jeff turned his attention to Cesaro but was headed off by Sheamus. “Brother Nero” chants filled the arena as Sheamus and Cesaro drove Jeff into the cage.

Sheamus and Cesaro started to climb on either side of the cage as the Hardy Boyz stopped them. The Hardys bounced Sheamus and Cesaro’s heads off the cage and then completer stereo dropkicks to the opposite side of the ring.

Jeff hit the poetry in motion on Sheamus and Cesaro one after another and Matt started to climb.

Soon all four men were on the top rope trying to climb out of the ring. Jeff went to go over the top but was pulled back by Sheamus. Jeff grabbed Cesaro as Sheamus hit him with a powerbomb that also sent his partner crashing to the mat.

Matt Hardy climbed to the top and was caught by Cesaro. He tossed Matt to Sheamus and The Celtic Warrior hit a rolling senton on Hardy. The ref opened the door, but Matt help onto Cesaro and Sheamus.

Sheamus and Cesaro sent Matt into the cage and Jeff soon found himself climbing to the top.

Cesaro climbed up to meet Jeff on the top of the cage and brought him back down to the mat. Afterward, Cesaro climbed up and tried to flip over to the other side of the cage, but Jeff held on.

Cesaro tried to hold a Hardy for a Brogue Kick from Sheamus, but it was ducked. The Hardys pulled off a counter and started climbing. Jeff got over the cage and was being held onto until he was dropped to the floor causing the first escape of the match.

The Celtic Warrior stood on the top rope and didn’t let Matt climb up. They were going to milk this double team opportunity for all they could. Matt hit a Side Effect on Cesaro and then took Sheamus out too.

Matt started climbing the cage and Jeff jumped up to grab his hand to pull him over. Sheamus and Cesaro both climbed up to stop Matt from going over the cage and Cesaro headbutted Jeff off the cage to send him crashing to the floor.

Sheamus hooked Matt Hardy and brought him back down. They both got Matt up and hit a double Razor’s Edge on Matt that Corey Graves called a double edged sword. Jeff tried to get back in the ring and slammed the cage door on Cesaro’s head. Then Sheamus smashed Jeff’s head off the cage and sent him flying. The Celtic Warrior tried to escape but Matt grabbed him to keep him in the ring.

Sheamus got Matt up and it was countered into a Twist Of Fate. Cesaro was stopped by Matt and then he started to climb the cage too. Matt got the very top but was stopped by Cesaro. He hit Matt with a stiff forearm uppercut and Sheamus climbed up and hit a top rope White Noise.

With his brother out cold in the ring, Jeff took off his shirt and started to climb the cage. Jeff hit a Whisper In The Wind on both Sheamus and Cesaro and the crowd went nuts.

The ref opened the door and Matt tried to drag Jeff out of the cage. Apparently since Jeff jumped back in the ring he reentered the match. Sheamus and Cesaro climbed the cage and hit the ground first. Therefore the winners and new Raw Tag Team champions are Cesaro and Sheamus. Congratulations to them but the crowd didn’t like the end result one bit.

Neville vs Austin Aries (Cruiserweight Championship Submission Match)

It was Austin Aries’ last chance at the WWE Cruiserweight Title and ironically he needs to use his own Last Chancery to win the submission match. As the match started Michael Cole said a WWE title has only changed one time in a submission match at the 1994 Survivor Series between Bob Backlund and Bret Hart.

Neville started out strong enough by Aries soon caught him in a submission hold that took him by surprise. Neville went to the apron and trash talked the crowd for a bit and took his time getting in the ring. A Double lounged on the top rope to stress his nonchalance.

Austin caught a guillotine on Neville and was driven in the rope. Aries started to smile but it was quickly wiped off his face. The two traded some moves and shot each other off the ropes. Austin popped Neville’s elf ears with a clapping move and then sent the action outside.

Austin Aries sent Neville into the barricade and then got him in a fireman’s carry and brought him around the ring to do even more damage. He tossed Neville back in the ring, but Austin brought the pain to him again. Neville powdered outside but Aries hit him with a dive and it looked like he tweaked his knee a bit.

Neville got in the ring first and caught Aries in the knee as he got back in the ring. Neville started torqueing on Austin’s leg and kept him grounded with some punishment on his leg.

Neville jumped to the top rope and Aries hit him with a forearm that sent him crashing to the outside. They returned to the ring and Aries took control. He hit Neville with a trilogy of shinbreakers and then sent his opponent to the mat.

Aries went for his Discus Five-Arm, but Neville headed him off. A Double countered the reversal with a dragon screw to Neville’s leg. Aires went to the apron but Neville soon hit Austin’s knee with a dropkick and it sent him crashing to the floor.

Neville went outside to join Aries and started hitting him with chops and other strikes. Neville threw a battered Austin Aries back in the ring and taunted the crowd to waste some time. He kicked Austin in the head and then taunted the crowd some more.

Neville climbed to the top rope as Corey Graves put him over. Neville went for a missile dropkick, but Austin stepped back and turned it into a figure four. Neville finally got to the ropes and things had turned around for Aries.

A Double hit the neckbreaker in between the ropes and climbed to the top. Neville jumped out of the way and dodged Aries’ missile dropkick and turned it into a Rings Of Saturn. A Double eventually got to the ropes, but the damage had been done.

Neville went for another move, but A Double reversed it into his own version of the Rings Of Saturn. The ref got involved by being grabbed and distracted Austin diving Neville the chance to superkick him down.

Neville set Aries up on the top rope and prepared to suplerplex him. Aries fought off by boxing Neville’s elf ears again and locked in a guillotine as the ref started to count. Aries jumped around Neville and hit a sunset flip powerbomb. Aries immediately transitioned it into a Last Chancery.

Just when Neville looked like he was going to tap he didn’t. Instead, Neville rolled himself out of the ring, but Aries held on to his move. Neville finally tapped on the outside but it didn’t count. The ref waved it off and said the match was still going.

When they were getting back into the ring, Austin Aries hit Neville with a Discus Five-Arm and sent Neville to the floor. He went for a suicide dive but nobody was home.

Neville tossed Aries’ limp body back in the ring and hit a Red Arrow splash on Austin Aries’ back. Then Neville locked in the Rings Of Saturn and gave Austin Aries no chance but to tap out.

Neville was the winner and looked to win the whole program over Austin Aries. For a guy who had some much hype around him, Austin Aries was kept from going much further on the roster. Neville had to really pull out all the stops to win this one. But it’s still the third time Austin Aries has failed to capture Neville’s Cruiserweight Championship. One would assume that three strikes means you’re out. But anything can happen in WWE.

Seth Rollins vs Samoa Joe vs Finn Balor vs Bray Wyatt vs Roman Reigns (Fatal 5 Way Winner Gets Universal Title Match At Great Balls Of Fire)

This is a match to decide who gets to fight Brock Lesnar at WWE’s next Raw PPV “Great Balls Of Fire.” The name of the new WWE PPV turned a lot of heads but in the end it might just be a clever way for Vince McMahon to get Jerry Lee Lewis back some of that money he owes him from a high stakes poker game in 1988 (I’m making that up but it would probably make more sense than their real reason).

Bray Wyatt’s music meant an outstanding entrance surrounded by fireflies. Seth Rollins came down and hyped everyone up with his speed metal entrance. Then came Samos Joe and everyone wondered why WWE gave him that music. Seriously, Samoa Joe’s music just sounds like a fat guy walking to the ring. If you don’t believe me, just turn on Joe’s music and imagine a cartoon elephant walking to the ring in tights. Fonzie Balor received a great reaction as usual. Then there was Roman Reigns… people… don’t… seem… to… like…Roman… Reigns. People were booing before his music even hit. They were booing the preparation to boo, it was really quite outstanding.

Everyone paired up as soon as the bell rang but nobody wanted to play with Roman. The Big Dog just stood there and looked lonely. Bray dispatched with Balor for a moment and then went in to face Roman.

Reigns got Wyatt up and hit a Samoan Drop on him, Joe got in the ring and got one too. Roman was looking strong as he got Finn up for another Samoan Drop, but Balor slipped out of it. Finn went to kick Roman, but it was blocked and Balor was sent to the outside.

Seth Rollins slid in the face Roman but the two former members of the Shield never got to mix it up. They were interrupted and Seth ended up being distracted by Samoa Joe.

“Let’s go Roman/Roman sucks!” chants started to ring out as the match carried on. Finn stomped on Wyatt and then Samoa Joe slid in to get some stomping from Balor too. Finn hit Joe with a dive but got taken out by Roman. After Reigns drove Finn into the barricade he bounced his head off the apron and was distracted for a bit by Wyatt.

Roman went for a drive by on Bray but he was taken down out of mid-air by Samoa Joe. That was a nice interception.

The crowd started to chant “we want tables” as Joe started to rearrange the ring steps. Joe called Bray over and they used the steel steps to take out Seth and Finn with the steps. Then The Samoan Submission Machine and The Eater Of Worlds took out Roman with the steps.

They doubled teamed Finn Balor for a minute and turned their attention to Seth Rollins before getting back in the ring.

Finn Balor was in the corner at this point and Bray walked over to him and kept up the punishment on Fonzie Finn. He tried to fight Joe and Bray off, but Balor was no match to the numbers game.

Finn took a lot of tandem punishment from Bray and Joe until Seth Rollins jumped in the match and took Bray out with a dropkick. Seth sent Joe face first into the middle turnbuckle but when he turned to dive on Bray to the outside he was taken down by a forearm. Bray hit a DDT on the steel steps and Seth looked hurt.

Joe got a Coquina Clutch on Balor in the ring and Finn used the turnbuckle to flip him around for a double stomp. Suddenly Bray came in with a steel chair and hit Balor. Roman Reigns got involved and the crowd popped with a “yay!” every time Wyatt hit the Big Dog with a chair.

Joe hit a running senton on Finn Balor and then placed a steel chair on Balor. Wyatt hit his own running senton on Balor and it looked like he hit the back of his head on the chair. Still, the steel chair was probably softer than Finn Balor’s abs.

They wedged the chair in between the ropes and Finn dodged out of the way to send Joe through the chair. Suddenly Roman Reigns got in the ring and people booed everything he did. Even though they did count loudly when he was hitting Bray with multiple clotheslines in the comer. People like to count because it makes them look smart.

Later on Bray hit a move on Roman on the announce table but it didn’t break as “one more time” chants broke out. Bray got back in the ring and Seth Rollins hit a double blockbuster on Bray and Joe. Then Seth hit a suicide dive on Samoa Joe and dodged Bray Wyatt to send him to the outside. Seth tried to dive on both of them, but Wyatt just pushed Joe into Seth’s path.

Rollins hit Wyatt with a falcon arrow when they got back in the ring for a two count. Seth went for a springboard move on Wyatt and got caught in a Sister Abagail. Bray hit the cover 1-2-and Samoa Joe broke up the pin.

After Joe got in the match again the two big heels started going at it. Joe took the upper hand and got a two count. Bray returned the favor by launching himself into Joe and then did his creepy upside-down smile. He tried to hit a Sister Abagail on Joe, but reversed into a Coquina Clutch.

Suddenly Finn Balor jumped in the ring with a chair and stated to take the heels out. He turned his attention to Roman on the outside and kicked his head off from the apron. Then Finn smashed Roman with a dive, ran around the ring, and hit a sweet dropkick on Joe that sent him smashing in the barricade.

Joe surprised Finn and locked in his Coquina Clutch and Roman surprised them both by spearing both Joe and Balor through the barricade. Seth Rollins climbed to the top rope and hit Bray Wyatt with a frog splash through the announce table as huge “hold s—” chants rang out.

Everyone was out and damaged from this match. But Roman got to his feet first, then Seth followed. The two former members of the Shield limped toward the ring because they knew that’s where you settle things.

There was a brief stand off while Seth and Roman looked each other in the eyes and you could read Roman’s lips saying something about punching him. So Seth started punching him.

Seth hit a kick to Roman and tried to powerbomb him, but Roman countered and hit a Superman Punch. 1-2-kickout! “You should have stayed down!” Roman barked as he prepared for a spear.

But Seth countered Roman’s spear and the two guys traded some moves for a pair of two counts. Seth Rollins hit a great top rope frog splash on Roman for another two count and both guys looked spend. It was only a matter of time before someone else got involved though. After all,  Roman and Seth weren’t the only two guys in this match.

Seth went for a Phoenix Splash, but Roman moved. Bray got in the ring and ended up taking a spear from Roman. Finn hit a bucklebomb on Roman but he used his own momentum to send him into a Superman Punch.

Then Finn Balor jumped in the ring and got a Superman Punch of his own. But Finn didn’t let it get him down too much because he soon hit Roman with a Sling Blade and climbed the ropes. He hit the Coup De Gras on Roman cleanly and went for the pin.

But in the blink of an eye, Samoa Joe plucked Finn Balor off of Roman Reigns and locked in the Coquina Clutch. Nobody jumped in the break up the hold because everyone else was already out of commission. It was only a matter of time before Finn Balor was out cold and the ref was calling for the bell.

It’s official: Brock Lesnar will be facing Samoa Joe at WWE Great Balls Of Fire. That should be a fun program, if anything because we get to hear Paul Heyman say Great Balls Of Fire over and over again.
