You never know what might happen when you watch a WWE premium live event and Money in the Bank was full of surprises. During the event Matt Riddle challenged Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship, and it was Gunther who picked up the victory to retain the gold.
After the match Gunther celebrated with his belt, but Drew McIntyre quickly interrupted as he made his way down to the ring to attack the Ring General. Prior to his return on Saturday, McIntyre had been out of action since April as he last competed when he faced Gunther and Sheamus in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 39.
There’s been a lot of talk about Drew McIntyre’s contract status in recent weeks as it’s believed that his deal is up in early 2024. However, Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE could extend Drew’s contract through WrestleMania 40 due to the time he missed.
Drew returned to the red brand on Monday night, and he will be returning to the ring next week as it’s been announced that Drew McIntyre & Matt Riddle will team up to face Imperium on the next episode of Raw.
