WWE is in a bad spot with Crown Jewel at the moment, as they’re still promoting the event despite the fact that the company is being pressured to pull Crown Jewel out of Saudi Arabia.
Over the past few weeks it’s been rumored that many people within the company don’t want to go to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel, and it’s also been reported that John Cena is refusing to go.
Even though WWE is still promoting Crown Jewel, Saudi Arabia is not being mentioned on WWE programming, and it looks like an official decision regarding the pay-per-view could be made soon.
According to TheWrap.com, as of Monday WWE officials were waiting for Turkey to release information regarding their investigation into the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
The report is expected to be released on Tuesday, but due to time zone differences WWE officials likely won’t be making a decision before SmackDown Live.
A decision on Crown Jewel is expected to be made on Wednesday.
At this point it’s not known if the event will be moved to another venue, postponed, or canceled.
