Becky Lynch and Mickie James kicked off Elimination Chamber tonight. The Lass Kicker is facing the girl who had to have a pornographic gesture censored at WrestleMania.
It’s no secret that Becky is the fans’ choice to face Alexa Bliss for the SmackDown Women’s Title and one could only assume that Mickie stepping in Becky’s way is just another obstacle to her getting to that title at WrestleMania. Mickey looked great and ready for action, Becky looked good too and together they started the show off with a bang.
The two locked up for a moment and took it to the mat, they rolled around and found themselves on the floor while still hooked in that collar and elbow tie-up. That might have been the longest opening lock-up in WWE history, someone check the numbers on that.
It was back and forth for a moment between Becky and Mickie and Mickie ended up on the floor. Lynch invited her back in the ring, but James didn’t get too far before being driven into the post from the apron and Becky hit Mickie with a flying “firearm” to the outside.
Becky got back in too late and took a nice looking DDT for 3 close two-counts. Mickie started working on Becky’s arm, which is smart. Becky said in the kickoff show’s social media lounge that she wanted to be known as the “Arm Break Kid”, which is cute — it also makes her dangerous. Mickey showed her veteran knowledge and kept working on Lynch’s arm.
Mickie James hit Becky with a hurricanrana and kept the pressure on her with a half-nelson headlock. Becky separated herself from James and the two began trading stiff forearm shots wth Becky coming out on top of the exchange.
Lynch hit James with the Becksploder Suplex and followed it up with a corner splash, but Mickie moved and hit the Lass Kicker with a flapjack. Mickie James scaled the top rope and hit a nice looking seated senton on Lynch for a close two-count.
Mickie James tried to send Becky into the corner again, but she blocked it and ended up going to the top herself where she hit a stiff missile dropkick. Mickie’s elbow started bleeding at this point, but she didn’t let that phase her as she hit Becky with a Mick-Kick. Would you like fries with that McKick? Two count!
Becky reversed Mickie’s suplex attempt and went for the Dis-Arm-Her, James blocked it, rolled herself around to get out of the move, and Becky held her down with a jackknife pin for the three-count.
Becky Lynch wins the opening contest in a pretty good match.
