In recent weeks a number of wrestlers have parted ways with WWE as names like Jazmyn Nyx and Andrade are now gone from the company. It was reported earlier this week that Santos Escobar’s contract with WWE was set to expire and his run with the promotion is now officially over. After Escobar’s contract expired at midnight WWE officially moved the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion to the alumni section on their website.

Santos Escobar first signed with WWE in 2019, but he has been absent from television for several months now. It was reported that WWE attempted to sign Escobar to a new deal, but he turned down the offer.
Dave Meltzer recently noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE separated Escobar from Angel and Humberto because the company did not expect him to stay. It’s not clear what the future holds at this point, but several people in AEW are reportedly expecting Santos Escobar to join the promotion.
