WWE returns were a hot topic in 2022 as a number of familiar faces were signed to new contracts. The returns are expected to continue moving forward in 2023 and a former tag team could be brought back.
Fightful Select is reporting that the Authors of Pain have been discussed for a potential WWE return. It was also noted that the possibility of bringing Paul Ellering back to manage Akam and Rezar was also discussed.
Paul Ellering was an integral part of AOP’s act in NXT, but they parted ways with him when they made it to the main roster. It’s being said that Akam and Rezar remained close with Paul Ellering, and he gave them his blessing to name themselves Legion of Pain after parting ways with WWE.
The Authors of Pain debuted with the NXT brand in 2016 and they were later called up to the main roster in 2018. They were released in 2020 and have mostly stayed away from the wrestling business since then. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
