WWE Claiming Blood Wasn’t Planned For Vince McMahon’s Segment With Kevin Owens

Last week Vince McMahon gave the SmackDown Live ratings a boost when he made his return to television to confront Kevin Owens. Vince McMahon booked Kevin Owens vs. Shane McMahon for the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, then he shook hands with KO before Owens hit him with a headbutt that seemingly busted Vince open.

If you watch WWE on a regular basis, then you already know that blood isn’t something you see on WWE programming too often nowadays, and the fact that Vince McMahon was bleeding on live TV was a very hot topic.

There was a lot of speculation as to how Vince pulled off the segment, and it was speculated that he may have bladed before his face off with Kevin Owens and used nu-skin to cover up the wound before making his way to the ring.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is now reporting that internally the story is that there was no blade involved in the segment, and people who were involved with the segment are saying that there was no talk of blood beforehand and that it just happened.

However if Vince wanted blood he just as easily wouldn’t have told anyone about it ahead of time. It was noted that while watching the footage back on a big screen you can see a line going down Vince’s forehead, and after the headbutt Vince’s forehead opened right on that line.

The story is that the cameramen were instructed to get close ups of Vince’s face while he was selling the beating, but no one knew that there was going to be blood.

It’s also being reported that the idea is that if the blood is minimal then it’s ok for television now.
