WWE Championship Match Set For SummerSlam, Updated Card

Jinder Mahal shocked the world a few months ago when he picked up a big win over Randy Orton and he won the WWE Championship for the first time in his career at Backlash. Since then Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton have been feuding over the title, but their feud came to an end at Battleground, and now Jinder is looking ahead to SummerSlam.

Jinder defended the belt against his rival Randy Orton in a Punjabi Prison match, and it was Jinder who won after The Great Khali interfered and choked Orton out.

The current WWE Champion made his way down to the ring a few days later on SmackDown Live, and he demanded to know who he would be defending the WWE Championship against at SummerSlam. That’s when 16 time WWE World Champion John Cena decided to make his way down to the ring.

John told Jinder that he would be facing Super Cena at SummerSlam, but SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan told Cena that things don’t work that way. Bryan booked a dream match for this week’s episode of SmackDown Live when he announced that Cena would battle Shinsuke Nakamura for the right to challenge Jinder at SummerSlam on August 20.

Cena and Nakamura battled in the main event of SmackDown Live this week, and they did not disappoint.

Near the end of the match, John Cena hit Shinsuke Nakamura with the Attitude Adjustment, but it wasn’t enough to put him away.

After Shinsuke kicked out, Cena tried for the AA again, but Shinsuke reversed it into a guillotine, then Cena reversed it into the AA. Cena then rolled through and tried for another AA, but Nakamura reversed it and hit him with a back drop suplex and Cena landed on his neck.

Nakamura then hit the Kinshasa on Cena to pick up the big win.

After the match Cena and Nakamura shook hands, and they bowed to each other. Cena then left and Nakamura celebrated in the ring as Jinder Mahal looked on with the SummerSlam match looming in the distance.
