PWInsider is reporting that the canceling of the event had more to do with WWE having problems finding a location than cost-cutting.
WWE has since announced the SummerSlam Panel Series that will replace Axxess that week, which is being held at Club Nokia. That venue holds just over 2,300 people while Nokia Plaza, where Axxess was held last year, can be set up to accommodate over 20,000 people.
