For years the wrestling world talk about a potential John Cena heel turn, and Cena shocked the world when he finally went to the dark side after winning the men’s Elimination Chamber match.
John Cena turned on Cody Rhodes and seemingly formed an alliance with The Rock and Travis Scott as the Elimination Chamber premium live event went off the air. Initially there was a lot of excitement surrounding John Cena’s heel turn, but in the weeks and months after Elimination Chamber there was no follow up regarding The Rock’s involvement, and no explanation for why Travis Scott was involved either.
The 17 time WWE Champion tried his best to carry on as a heel on his own until he inevitably turned face again on the road to his match with Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam.
Fightful Select reports that people in WWE know John Cena’s heel run wasn’t good, and largely believe that was because of the creative changes that happened.
Cena’s heel run has been heavily criticized in recent months, but classic Cena has been back on track since SummerSlam. Currently he only has 5 dates remaining on his schedule before he retires for good, and Cena’s next match will take place at Crown Jewel: Perth when he faces off against AJ Styles.
