The Last Time Is Now Tournament kicked off a few weeks ago and it’s come down to LA Knight and Gunther. The two stars will face off in the finals next week on Raw, and the winner will go on to face John Cena in his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th.

During a recent WrestleVotes Live Q&A the topic of Gunther possibly being John Cena’s last opponent was brought up, and it was noted that there are people within WWE who don’t love the idea.

“I don’t love it. I know other people who don’t love it. People within WWE don’t love it…I know people on the inside don’t love it but understand it. Gunther has the potential to be a huge heel, or babyface if you want, for 5, 10, 15 years with this company. So if he could be the one to retire John Cena you probably take that. It is what it is.”

While anything can happen between now and December 13th, Gunther has been heavily rumored to be John Cena’s final opponent for months now. John Cena’s dad also talked about the possibility of Gunther being his son’s last opponent on the All Axxess Podcast and he made it clear that he doesn’t think Gunther is the right choice.

“Well, it certainly wouldn’t be Gunther, that’s for sure. I don’t think that’s a wise move. I don’t think the fans would enjoy that move. Gunther does not need the rub.”

If you could pick John Cena’s final opponent who would it be? Sound off in the comments below.
