Friday Night SmackDown officially launched on FOX back in October of 2019, but the show will soon be finishing up its run with the network. The blue brand is set to make the jump to USA Network later this year and it seems that there are a number of people who will likely be happy once SmackDown is off FOX.
FOX has been heavily editing SmackDown at times with muted audio and sometimes blank screens for long periods of time. The 6/28 episode was specifically a big talking point as there was a lot of editing in the Logan Paul match because of the fan reaction when he brought out Tyrese Haliburton.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that FOX has become overly vigilant with SmackDown as a lame duck show. They edit every fan chant that could potentially be offensive and also edit anything that could be deemed controversial.
No one can say anything publicly about the editing, but privately it is viewed as annoying. SmackDown will be heading to USA Network on September 13, 2024. Stay tuned for updates.
