NXT usually bring the kind of show at TakeOver which can sometimes overshadow the main roster show that follows on the next night. With so many eyes currently on WWE’s developmental product, it’s easy to see why so many people are starting to pay attention to this roster of hungry talents as they scratch and claw their way to the top of the WWE Universe in hopes for a main roster call-up.
NXT TakeOver: New Orleans looks to be next on the schedule and the card coming together so far seems like a very good one. But apparently, one big match initially planned for the big WrestleMania weekend TakeOver special won’t be happening as planned.
Lars Sullivan was said to be penciled in for the role of taking on NXT Champion Andrade Cien Almas at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. But apparently, those plans have been changed because Aleister Black is currently in line to receive the title shot.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Lars Sullivan was supposed to get a title shot against Andrade Cien Almas, however, those plans have apparently been changed. While it was explained that the company was pushing Sullivan pretty hard some reports from the WWE Performance Center have noted that Sullivan hasn’t been showing up as of late.
Whether this report is factual or not is another matter. But what does seem to be the case is if Lars Sullivan was indeed planned for an NXT Title shot in New Orleans, that something happened to change those plans.
Of course, direction can change all the time and Aleister Black is currently riding high after two big TakeOver wins in a row first against The Velveteen Dream and then Adam Cole in two outstanding contests.
So it will be the undefeated Aleister Black facing Andrade Cien Almas in New Orleans while we all just have to wonder where Lars Sullivan has been as of late.
