WWE has officially announced that EVOLVE, PROGRESS and Revolution Pro Wrestling will be hosting qualifying matches for the upcoming Global Cruiserweight Series. WWE posted the following on their website:
“U.S.-based EVOLVE Wrestling, and U.K.-based PROGRESS Wrestling and Revolution Pro Wrestling will all host bouts in the coming weeks to help determine participants in WWE’s hotly anticipated 32-competitor tournament, which was announced last month. The tournament, which is limited to athletes 205 pounds or lighter, debuts on WWE Network on July 13, and is set to take place over 10 weeks.”
It’s also being reported by PWInsider that tapings for the tournament will begin on June 20. The entire series will be filmed over five days during that week. The participants will be decided via qualifying matches held at EVOLVE, PROGRESS and Revolution Pro events. WWE will also be revealing participants via social media along the way.
