WWE Airing Fewer Pay-Per-Views Next Year, Original Plans For Clash Of Champions Main Event

If you’re a WWE Network subscriber then you’ve probably watched quite a few WWE pay-per-views this year, but it looks like WWE may be cutting back on their pay-per-view schedule in 2018.

Dave Meltzer recently noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE will be doing fewer pay-per-views next year, and there won’t be a month with two pay-per-views until next April or May.

Survivor Series is a co-branded show, and SmackDown Live is getting Clash of Champions in December. With Royal Rumble also being a co-branded show it doesn’t look like Raw will be getting an exclusive pay-per-view until February.

It was also noted that there will probably be a PPV in March before WrestleMania in April.

Speaking of Clash of Champions, it’s also being reported that original plans for the show called for Jinder Mahal to defend the WWE Championship against AJ Styles in the main event.

However, it remains to be seen if that will still be the main event of the show as WWE moved the title match up to this week’s episode of SmackDown Live.

Original plans for SmackDown Live called for Rusev to face AJ Styles to determine who will be joining Team SmackDown at Survivor Series.
