WWE has quite a few trademarks filed with the USPTO, and recently the company made headlines when it was revealed that WWE surrendered the trademark to the “Cody Rhodes” name.
Now it appears that WWE has abandoned the trademark for “Brock Lesnar” as Heel By Nature is reporting that last month The United States Patent and Trademark Office canceled a trademark for the name after WWE failed comply with a documentation request.
WWE filed an application for the name on 1/9 to use it for entertainment services by a professional wrestling, but the request was denied on 3/12 as the USPTO noted that WWE needed to provide written consent from Brock Lesnar in order to move forward.
WWE did not provide written consent within the six month time frame, so the filing was abandoned on 9/15, and the status of the filing was confirmed on 10/2.
The decision can be appealed provided WWE provides a reason for the delay, and consent from Brock Lesnar. It must be appealed by 12/2.
As previously reported, Brock Lesnar’s WWE contract expired months ago, and he has yet to sign a new deal with the company.
