It’s been a rough week for wrestling fans, as Dynamite Kid passed away at the age of 60 years old, and now the wrestling world has lost another legend.
PWInsider is reporting that the patriarch of the Hennig family, Larry “The Axe” Hennig, has passed away at the age of 82.
Hennig is the father of “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig, and he is also the grandfather of WWE Superstar Curtis Axel.
Larry Hennig was trained by Verne Gagne, and got his start in professional wrestling in the 1960s.
Hennig found success in AWA where he won the AWA World Tag Team Championships with Harley Race, and Duke Hoffman.
Our condolences go out to his family, friends and fans. May he rest in peace.
I made this painting of Larry Hennig for him being honored by the @wrestlingmuseum. There's a couch in the lobby of the museum where we'd sit and talk life and those moments are something I'll treasure forever. pic.twitter.com/3F94wPZGmh
