The coronavirus has caused major issues all around the world and large gatherings are being canceled at a rapid pace. However, as of this writing WrestleMania is still moving forward.
Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated is reporting that he reached out to over 20 members of the WWE roster and connected with a dozen. Each reportedly expressed concern about performing in front of such a large crowd with the possibility of the coronavirus situation worsening before WrestleMania.
Talent speculated on the fate of WrestleMania 36 and the majority feel that the event will be canceled due to the outbreak.
Sources close to WWE have also confirmed that Vince McMahon wants to move forward with WrestleMania.
On Thursday WWE released the following statement regarding WrestleMania:
“While we remain committed to hosting WrestleMania at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, April 5, we are putting contingency plans in place in the event that it is canceled by government officials, civil authorities and/or local venues. The health and safety of our fans, performers, and employees are our top priorities and we are monitoring the situation closely with our partners and government officials in Tampa Bay.”
