Would Leaving WWE Be The Right Move For Dolph Ziggler?

Former WWE writer Court Bauer set the wrestling world on fire with the following comment during an appearance on MLW Radio:

“Dolph’s deal is up in a few months and he has indicated informally that unless he gets a big push, he may leave like Mundo.”

Since then everyone has been asking the question, is Dolph Ziggler going to leave WWE? Well, we don’t have an answer to that question so instead we’re asking should Dolph Ziggler leave WWE?

Dolph Ziggler has been with the WWE for almost 10 years now and his career has had a lot of ups and downs. However, there’s no denying that he’s had an excellent run with the company. He’s a 2 time World Heavyweight Champion, a 4 time Intercontinental Champion, a 1 time United States Champion, a former Tag Team Champion (during his run with the Spirit Squad), a Money in the Bank winner and a 2 time Slammy Award winner. But despite the fact that he has a long list of impressive accomplishments in his WWE career, fans and peers alike still seem to feel like he’s never quite reached the top of the mountain.

Luck hasn’t exactly been on Ziggler’s side during his WWE career. He always seems to be in the right place at the wrong time. He became World Heavyweight Champion after a memorable Money in the Bank cash in, then got a concussion shortly after winning the title. He was the breakout star of Survivor Series 2014, but couldn’t parlay that momentum into something more. He has the support of the fans, he has the support of wrestling legends, but WWE just doesn’t seem to see him as “the guy” or even the guy that works with “the guy.”

So what should Dolph Ziggler do? Mick Foley said it best last year when he said:

“As long as we live in a world where Dolph Ziggler can’t get a push, there need to be options for aspiring wrestlers.”

If you take a look around there are definitely options for Dolph Ziggler. Dolph would be a perfect fit anywhere he goes. Whether it’s TNA, NJPW, ROH, GFW or Lucha Underground, Dolph would be able to bring something to the table that none of those companies have.

Momentum can shift at any time in the WWE, but after almost a decade it seems that Dolph Ziggler is never going to get a run at the top. He could stay and be a career mid-carder, or he could go elsewhere and add more accomplishments to his already impressive list.

Dolph is only 34 years old and he still has a lot of good years left in his career. His resume looks great at the moment but it would look even more impressive if he perhaps added a IWGP World Heavyweight Championship reign, a ROH World Championship reign or a Lucha Underground Championship reign. Sure these companies might not be the gigantic behemoth that WWE is but they could add a lot of value to Dolph Ziggler’s career.

So should Dolph Ziggler move on from his WWE career? It would seem like the smart move. It seems that Dolph has done all he’s going to be allowed to do in WWE, so why not see what he can do elsewhere?

Dolph Ziggler has made a name for himself in WWE and he’s hit the glass ceiling within the company. But that doesn’t mean he’s hit the glass ceiling in his wrestling career.
