SummerSlam is now just over two weeks away and “The Biggest Party Of The Summer” boasts one of the biggest matches of the year as Brock Lesnar defends his Universal Championship against Samoa Joe, Brawn Strowman and Roman Reigns in a fatal four-way match.
Paul Heyman added the stipulation on Monday night Raw that Brock will walk away from WWE if he loses his Universal Championship at SummerSlam, but the truth is, if Brock does walk away he doesn’t have anywhere to go.
Lesnar and Jon Jones are building up a huge UFC fight, but that can’t happen for at least another year because Brock has missed the deadline for the USADA testing to fight for UFC in 2017. It also seems that Brock will play a huge role in both the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 34, which means the company won’t allow him to step away for a few months to fight for UFC with the risk of being injured.
Sportskeeda is reporting that Brock is going to retain his Universal Championship at SummerSlam and resume his strangle hold over the Raw roster for the next few months.
Brock’s current WWE contract ends in April 2018 so he could well hold the Universal Championship up until WrestleMania 34 and then decide against re-signing with the company in favour of having more UFC matches.
Of course, Brock will never go to UFC full-time again because of his past issues with Diverticulitis, but it will be interesting to see how WWE manages to plan out the next year with a huge UFC match hanging over his head.
