Earlier this year Dolph Ziggler was drafted to Raw, and he shocked the world when he announced that he brought Drew McIntyre with him.
Ziggler and McIntyre have been key players on the red brand for most of 2018, and they even managed to capture the Raw Tag Team Titles during their run.
However, this week on Raw their run came to an end after Drew McIntyre declared that he was done with Dolph Ziggler. Dolph then defeated McIntyre and seemingly turned face in the process.
The split has been rumored for months, and it’s expected that Drew McIntyre will be getting a big push, but Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE doesn’t have any big plans for Dolph Ziggler.
“They’re gonna pull the trigger on McIntyre. It was just a question of when. This was going to happen. Unfortunately even though Ziggler won that match, he’s looking like he’s gonna be – it ain’t going to be as bad as Aiden English, but you know what I’m saying. He’s going to be fading down and McIntyre’s gonna be going up, and that’s how it was always going to be from day one.”
The fans quickly got behind Dolph during his match with McIntyre on Raw, so the positive reaction shows that fans are still willing to support the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but it doesn’t seem that the suits in the back are willing to do the same.
