It has finally been officially announced that Brock Lesnar will face Randy Orton in an epic showdown at SummerSlam next month, but despite this match being one of the most anticipated and hard hitting collisions the WWE Universe could have asked for, it seems that many fans are already aware of the much to familiar outcome.
Brock Lesnar steps back into The Octagon for the first time in almost five years when he faces Mark Hunt on Saturday night in what is set to be a smash mouth match between two heavy hitters. The only issue is the fact that if Brock Lesnar does win this match then it would be hard to see any of WWE’s current crop of talent ever halting the roll The Beast is currently on.
Even without the UFC match this weekend, the last match that Lesnar lost in WWE was three years ago at the hands of current WWE COO Triple H. Since then Lesnar has been on a wrecking spree through WWE and has easily defeated the likes of The Big Show, Mark Henry, Roman Reigns, John Cena and Dean Ambrose.
Add to this the fact that he ended The Undertaker’s famous Undefeated Streak and currently holds the record as the longest reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion it shows the thought that WWE have put into Brock Lesnar’s blossoming WWE career.
Putting him up against Randy Orton at The Biggest Party of The Summer next month is a fantastic idea but it seems that even The Viper himself wouldn’t be a that much of a test for The Beast Incarnate. Add that to the fact that his record at SummerSlam is rather impressive as well.
Lesnar’s epic WWE World Heavyweight Championship win back in 2014 when he defeated John Cena after a record 16 German Suplex’s is one of the most infamous matches that Lesnar has ever been apart of although last year’s SummerSlam match against The Undertaker did sadly fail to live up to the hype.
The match that was deemed ‘too big for WrestleMania’ was heaped in controversy, not to mention an ending that still fails to make any more sense looking back at it a year later.
It is currently unknown what WWE actually has planned for a match that is more than 14 years after the duo first collided on an episode of Smackdown back in 2002. Back then Randy Orton was a new comer to the business and Brock made quick work of his challenger, will SummerSlam end the same way?
The thought is that the match can go two ways, Randy Orton can be just another name that is added to Lesnar’s hit list and he can be completely dominated like every other star who has stepped in the ring with Lesnar. Or Randy Orton can bring The Legend Killer, he can bring The Viper and he can take the fight to Lesnar like never before and we will actually have a main event worthy match out of these two heavyweights.
It has been deemed the battle of the two youngest World Champions, which incidentally saw both men make the record at both SummerSlam 2002 and 2004 respectably. Whether this is just a coincidence or that WWE actually have a Legend Killer style rivalry planned for the two veterans of the business remains to be seen.
But as Jim Ross stated earlier in the week, it is hard to see anyone being able to defeat Brock Lesnar right now in his current situation, he is a hot commodity in two of the biggest sports companies in the world. Obviously Vince McMahon is fully aware of the talent he has at his fingertips and he would never do anything to jeopardise the relationship he has with both Lesnar and his advocate Paul Heyman, which means Lesnar will continue to roll through WWE as an unstoppable entity.
Brock will have to lose a match to some point to help set up a feud that fans can easily get behind, but as for right now it seems Brock will continue to keep the strangle hold he currently has on WWE until Vince McMahon decides it is time for him to lose a match and it looks like the WWE Universe could be waiting a very long time for that.
