You never know when WWE might shake things up with the announce team and last week some big changes were confirmed. It’s been revealed that starting tonight Michael Cole and Wade Barrett will be calling the action on Monday Night Raw. Cole will also be calling the action on SmackDown from now on alongside Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick.
PWInsider is reporting that Michael Cole will be doing commentary on Raw and SmackDown moving forward at the request of Endeavor and WWE’s broadcast partners. The idea is to make Michael Cole the face of the product moving forward.
Michael Cole has been with WWE since 1997 and in 1999 he started doing play by play for the company eventually becoming the lead commentator on SmackDown. He remained in that role for nearly 10 years with various broadcast partners including Tazz, JBL, Jonathan Coachman and Mick Foley. Cole eventually made his way back to Raw, but once again became a full-time commentator on SmackDown when the brand moved to FOX in 2019.
In addition to his on screen role Michael Cole was also promoted to Vice President of Announcing back in 2020. Stay tuned for more updates on the WWE commentary team as they become available.
