Throughout 2025 a number of names have been able to take their careers to the next level, and there’s no denying that Maxxine Dupri has been one of WWE’s breakout stars. Dupri has clearly honed her in-ring skills and last month she defeated Becky Lynch to become the new WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion.
Recently Dave Meltzer discussed Maxxine Dupri’s success on Wrestling Observer Radio, and he claimed that Maxxine Dupri is currently getting a push due to her looks.
“They have this thing in their minds that they’re gonna get her over as this; they really want to get her over. I think they feel she’s marketable because of her looks. The key to this marketing of hers is that she works so hard in practice, and she practices, she works, and she works, and she works. So, therefore, you’re not watching her going like ‘she’s only getting a push because of her looks’ even though in fact, that’s why she’s getting the push. Because in the ring, I mean, she’s not as good as the NXT women, she’s just not, she tries.”
During this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Maxxine Dupri defended her WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship for the first time and she picked up a big win over Ivy Nile when she made Nile tap out to the ankle lock.
