Back in February, The Rock officially announced that WrestleMania 42 would take place from the Superdome in New Orleans in 2026. However, it was revealed earlier this week that the event had been pulled from New Orleans. WWE has yet to officially announce a new location for WrestleMania 42, but it’s been reported that the Show of Shows will likely be returning to Las Vegas next year.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the decision was made because WWE made so much money overall in Las Vegas this year, and that level of money couldn’t be made in New Orleans. It’s also being said that the company loved having WrestleMania in Las Vegas because key TKO executives live in Vegas and Nick Khan grew up there.
The plan moving forward is for Las Vegas to host WrestleMania on a more regular basis. The event won’t be held in Vegas ever year, but will emanate from the city more frequently.
The idea is Las Vegas wants to be a destination for major events such as the Super Bowl, the Final Four, the College Football national championship and WrestleMania. Las Vegas would be looking to host WrestleMania any year that the city doesn’t have one of the other aforementioned events.
Originally WrestleMania 42 was planned for April 11 and April 12 in 2026. The belief now is that the show will be pushed back a week to April 18 and 19. Sources in Las Vegas have reportedly confirmed that Allegiant Stadium has been reserved for those dates in 2026.
