Why WWE Dropped A Big Ronda Rousey Storyline

Ronda Rousey is the current Raw Women’s Champion, but she had a rough week. The champ faced off against Charlotte Flair in a non-title match at Survivor Series, and after the match Charlotte destroyed Rousey using a few kendo sticks and a chair.

Rousey was able to compete the next night on Raw, but it looks like the worst is yet to come for the Baddest Woman on the Planet.

The Raw Women’s Champion is set to defend her title against Nia Jax at TLC next month, but it appears that WWE originally had different plans for Rousey.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that original plans called for Natalya to turn on Ronda Rousey right about now, but the Ronda Rousey/Natalya friendship angle has been dropped.

According to the report, the idea was dropped because the feeling was that after her father Jim Neidhart passed away they couldn’t turn Natalya heel.

The thought was that turning her after her father’s passing would have been bad timing, and there was only a short window to turn her, which is why WWE booked Rousey to feud with Nia Jax.
