For weeks now everyone has been wondering what Gunther would be doing at WrestleMania, and The Ring General finally returned on Monday Night Raw when he put Seth Rollins to sleep. Shortly after his altercation with Rollins it was confirmed that Gunther and Seth will face off on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that Gunther vs. Seth Rollins has been the plan for several weeks, and the storyline with Paul Heyman and Seth Rollins was always meant to build to Gunther attacking Seth at Madison Square Garden.
According to the report the plans have nothing to do with Bron Breakker not being cleared after undergoing hernia surgery. It’s being said that Bron Breakker is cleared, but the decision was made not to rush into the Rollins vs. Breakker match. The idea for Rollins vs. Breakker is very much alive, but WWE wants proper television time to build the match up.
Gunther being lined up to face Seth at WrestleMania stemmed from Bronson Reed’s injury. The Vision and The Usos were set to do a celebrity match involving IShowSpeed and Logan Paul, which took Paul out of a potential match with Rollins, and with Bronson Reed also out of action the company needed a new opponent for Rollins.
