The landscape has certainly changed in WWE recently as the company made Paul Heyman the Executive Director of Monday Night Raw, and Eric Bischoff the Executive Director of SmackDown Live.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the decision to appoint them to the roles was made for a variety of reasons, and goes back a couple of weeks.
The key reasons were a negative reaction from Wall Street in regard to WWE’s declining popularity, attendance, merchandise sales and WWE Network subscriptions.
Even though company is said to be “idiot proof” when it comes to being profitable through 2024, the stock price is based on the idea that SmackDown’s move to FOX will lead to a boom period for WWE.
