Fans who were planning to attend the upcoming Raw live events this month are sure to be disappointed, because the following events have been canceled:
8/23 in Bossier City, LA, 8/24 in Lafayette, LA and 8/25 in Mobile, AL, 8/30 in Bangor, ME and 8/31 in Portland, ME
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the 8/23, 8/24 and 8/25 shows were likely canceled due to bad advances.
It was also noted that even with high ticket prices not all live events are profitable.
The belief is that WWE will be doing more duel branded “Supershows” moving forward.
This weekend WWE is advertising a “Supershow” for 8/17 in Houston at the Toyota Center, with key Smackdown stars as well as Becky Lynch, Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe, Drew McIntyre and Lacey Evans.
WWE is also running a Raw show in Grand Forks, ND on 8/17 with Seth Rollins, Baron Corbin, Miz and Ricochet being advertised for the event, along with Drew Gulak vs. Tony Nese for the Cruiserweight Title.
It’s also worth noting that Joe is booked for both shows, but it seems that there was some sort of communication error which is why he’s being advertised for both.
As a general rule there will still be two tours on the road most weekends and the belief is that the SmackDown shows will be stronger in the fall due to the FOX deal.
