Gunther has been on a roll since last year as he retired Goldberg, John Cena and AJ Styles. The Ring General established himself as a force to be reckoned with and in recent weeks there’s been a lot of talk about his absence from WWE television.
During this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Gunther finally returned and he attacked Seth Rollins then put him to sleep. Shortly after it was confirmed that Gunther will face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 42.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer noted that he received a lot of questions regarding whether or not WWE pivoted to Seth Rollins vs. Gunther because Bron Breakker wasn’t cleared in time. Meltzer claimed that Rollins vs. Gunther was the updated plan for WrestleMania regardless of Bron Breakker’s status. It was also noted that multiple other ideas were pitched since Bron Breakker was sidelined due to injury.
During last night's show we said we'd check on whether Gunther vs. Seth came because Breakker wasn't cleared in time. Actually no, that was the updated plan regardless.

Bron Breakker has been out of action since February as he was sidelined due to a hernia. Last week it was reported that Breakker was spotted at the WWE Performance Center and was working toward getting cleared for an in-ring return.
Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker and Gunther vs. Rey Mysterio had both been rumored for the WrestleMania card, but it appears that WWE is going in a different direction due to Breakker and Mysterio being injured.
