Why WWE Booked A Controversial Finish For Ricochet vs. Samoa Joe On Raw

The King of the Ring tournament has been featured on Raw and SmackDown Live over the last few weeks, and this week on Raw Baron Corbin advanced when he defeated Cedric Alexander.

Later in the night Samoa Joe faced off against Ricochet, and the referee counted the pin while both Joe and Ricochet’s shoulders were down.

It was then announced that Joe and Ricochet will both advance to the semi-finals and they will face off against Baron Corbin in a triple threat match on Raw next week.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the idea for the triple threat semi-final match is get Ricochet over.

The finals of the King of the Ring tournament will take place during the Clash of Champions pay-per-view on Sunday, September 15.
