For years The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak was one of the biggest attractions at the show of shows, but in 2014 Brock Lesnar ended the streak for good when he defeated Taker at WrestleMania 30.
Many fans have not only questioned whether or not the streak should have been broken at all, but also whether or not Brock Lesnar was the guy to do it.
It seems that some people were hoping if the streak was going to be broken that the honor would go to an up and comer as opposed to an established star like Brock Lesnar.
Even The Undertaker himself has said that he thinks Roman Reigns would have been a better fit to end the streak.
It was noted in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that originally Brock Lesnar was picked to end the streak because Vince McMahon wanted to book Roman Reigns as someone who could get revenge for the fans on the guy who broke the streak.
Unfortunately for Vince McMahon things didn’t go that way, as the crown turned on Roman during the build for his match with Lesnar in 2015.
WWE wanted to make Roman the top guy, but felt that fans would have resented him if he was the one who ended the streak.
The belief at the time was that it could be The Undertaker’s last match, which is why Brock Lesnar ended up picking up the win.
