Last year Shane McMahon got the wrestling world talking when he was spotted meeting with Tony Khan. Fans immediately started talking about the possibility of Shane McMahon working with All Elite Wrestling, but so far Shane has yet to make an appearance on AEW programming.

Recently former WWE announcer Jonathan Coachman addressed the situation on The Coach & Bro Live, and he claimed that Tony Khan ghosted Shane after Shane asked for equity in the company.

“Well I have it on good authority that Shane McMahon asked for the world. He wanted equity in the company, and he wanted to come in and run the entire show. Honestly it was probably the first time I said to myself, ‘I actually agree with Tony Khan ghosting him.’ Because Tony ghosted Shane. It wasn’t the other way around.”

Fightful Select reports that a source close to Shane McMahon has confirmed Tony Khan did not follow up with Shane. The source noted that they couldn’t comment on the claim that Shane wanted equity in the company, but it seemed like Shane wanted to run things even though he didn’t have the familiarity with AEW, or their business model.

The same source also noted that Shane didn’t seem to take it personally when Tony Khan didn’t follow up, and that it seemed like Tony Khan may have thought Shane was joking when he talked about running everything.

There was never at any point an expanded plan for Shane to appear on AEW TV or join the company. It’s being said that Tony Khan didn’t speak of the situation extensively beyond noting that the two sides met.

The source close to Shane McMahon stated that they wouldn’t rule out a possible cameo appearance. However, the belief is that Shane McMahon and AEW won’t be doing business extensively at this time.
