On this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, Rusev picked up a big victory when he teamed up with Jinder Mahal to face Randy Orton and Bobby Roode, and The Bulgarian Brute managed to pin The Viper.
After pinning the United States Champion in a tag team match, Rusev will now be getting a shot at the gold as he was added to the US Title match at WrestleMania 34.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE decided to pull Rusev from the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and add him to the US Title match because of his strong merchandise sales.
It’s no big secret that Rusev Day has been a massive hit with the fans, so it’s nice to see that Rusev’s recent popularity has helped him secure a title shot.
