Several NXT stars were recently called up to the WWE main roster, and the Authors of Pain are now part of Raw.
There’s little doubt that the former NXT Tag Team Champions will be a solid addition to the red brand, but shortly after they were called up, they decided to ditch their manager Paul Ellering.
There’s been a lot of speculation regarding why the Authors of Pain decided to part ways with Ellering, but Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting that it was simply a creative choice.
“As far as the AOP/Ellering thing, why did they do that? It basically was that they wanted Authors of Pain on their own and it was a creative choice by people on the main roster,” Johnson said via Ringside News. “They want Paul Ellering down in NXT working with others to prepare them and groom them. It’s that simple. It had nothing to do with Ellering not wanting to go on the road. He would have done anything that WWE wanted. He was just someone that they didn’t want to be with Authors of Pain at this juncture.”
Paul Ellering recently took to Twitter to shoot down rumors that he didn’t want to join the main roster due to all the travel involved.
