This week’s episode of NXT was the special New Year’s Evil edition of the show and it featured some big moments. Izzi Dame defeated Thea Hail to become the new NXT Women’s North American Champion, and Oba Femi went on to defend his NXT Championship against Leon Slater in the main event.
When it was all said and done Femi defeated Slater to retain the title, but after the match he vacated the belt and left the NXT Championship in the middle of the ring.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select is reporting that Oba Femi is expected to join the Monday Night Raw brand, with plans for him to be at the top of the card. It’s also being reported that there are creative pushes for Femi to be featured in a prominent spot at WrestleMania 42.
Following this week’s episode of NXT, Sean Ross Sapp was told that Oba Femi relinquished the NXT Championship due to his imminent main roster plans as those controlling his creative on the main roster didn’t want him taking another loss.
A number of NXT stars have been making moves recently as Trick Williams joined SmackDown last week, and Je’Von Evans signed his Raw contract on Monday night. One way or another it will be interesting to see how things play out for the former NXT stars in the months to come.
