Miro was released from WWE in 2020, and he ended up making his debut with All Elite Wrestling a few months later. His run with AEW got off to a promising start, but Miro was officially released from his contract with the company earlier this week.
Prior to his release Miro last competed inside an AEW ring when he faced off against Andrade El Idolo at the Worlds End pay-per-view in December of 2023. Miro ended up picking up the victory after CJ Perry turned on Andrade.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Miro got Tony Khan to hire CJ Perry with the idea being that they would do a storyline where they were separated, but would eventually reunite and try to revive the Lana/Rusev gimmick they had in WWE.
After AEW Worlds End, Miro and CJ Perry were under the impression that they would both be reunited as a duo, and pushed to the top, but that didn’t happen.
People close to Miro said that he was constantly pitching angles for himself and CJ Perry. The pitches weren’t getting anywhere, and then All Elite Wrestling let CJ Perry go, so that made things worse.
In August of 2024, Miro made it clear that he wanted out of AEW with CJ Perry getting fired and the company not following up on the angle. The former TNT Champion had been trying to get released since then, and it’s being said that there had been no talk in recent months of The Redeemer making his return to television.
The former TNT Champion has been off television for some time, but it was recently reported that WWE is already talking about the possibility of bringing him, and another former WWE star back to the company. You can get more details on that here.
