Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens have been building up their feud for months now, and Cody put the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line when he defended the belt against KO at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The American Nightmare managed to defeat Kevin Owens, but the action continued after the show went off the air. Following the Saturday Night’s Main Event broadcast on NBC, KO hit Cody Rhodes with a package piledriver, took the Winged Eagle belt, and got into a physical altercation with Triple H.

The WWE roster is currently getting ready to take a break for the holidays which is why WWE held a double taping at SmackDown last week. Fightful Select reports that the double taping created a conflict as Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens couldn’t film anything in front of the crowd that would have given away the result of their title match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The post-show attacked that took place after the Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens match at Saturday Night’s Main Event was meant to bridge the gap. WWE had to get creative with segments involving KO and Cody Rhodes, so the plan is to air footage of Owens attacking Cody on SmackDown. Owens is also reportedly set to appear in a backstage segment.
