WrestleMania season has been full of twists and turns for Drew McIntyre as he defeated Cody Rhodes to win the Undisputed WWE Championship back in January, but recently dropped the belt back to Cody earlier this month.
Drew hijacked SmackDown last week when the show kicked off, and Jacob Fatu stepped up to The Scottish Warrior. McIntyre responded by quitting WWE. However, Drew McIntyre returned later in the show and cost Fatu his match against Trick Williams. Ahead of the contract signing in the main event segment, Nick Aldis announced that Drew and Jacob would face off on this week’s episode of SmackDown.
During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer clarified that Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu is still planned for the WrestleMania card, and the match on SmackDown will be used to set up their match on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Back in October of 2025, Jacob Fatu was written off TV, and he’s been feuding with Drew McIntyre ever since he returned on the January 9th episode of SmackDown. Fatu has made it clear that he wants to handle the “Drew problem” so it will be interesting to see how things play out during their match on SmackDown this week.
