Drew McIntyre won the 30 man Royal Rumble match back in January, and over the weekend he challenged Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36.
McIntyre managed to put Brock Lesnar away with four claymore kicks to become the new WWE Champion at Mania.
The next night on Monday Night Raw WWE aired a match which featured McIntyre defending his WWE Championship against Big Show, and it was noted that the match was taped only 20 minutes after Drew defeated Lesnar to win the belt.
PWInsider reports that the Drew McIntyre vs. Big Show match was done to show how strong McIntyre was coming out of his WrestleMania match with Lesnar.
The idea was that Drew overcame Big Show after facing Lesnar and being physically spent. WWE wanted to show him beating two of WWE’s biggest Superstars one after another.
There’s currently no word on what’s planned for McIntyre on Raw next week. Stay tuned for updates.
