UPDATE: Reports of CM Punk signing a short deal with WWE when he returned last year are being disputed and you can get more on that here.

CM Punk has been back with WWE since November of 2023, but it was recently reported that Punk is already looking to restructure his contract. Dave Meltzer recently addressed CM Punk’s contract status on Wrestling Observer Radio and shared some details regarding the current situation with Punk’s deal.

“What happened when CM Punk came in, they had a short-term deal which is expiring now. Now there are rollovers in the deal so there’s not like a hurry that they have to sign him because the deal goes longer. But they knew all along that right around now would be when they would be renegotiating any deals…It was kind of known that that was going to happen now.

Everyone is getting along fine. There’s nothing wrong with it or anything like that…He’s just hammering down the terms that everyone knew they were going to do at a certain point, which is now just to basically get everyone back on the page because they both know where they want to be.”

CM Punk returned to WWE Raw this week and he made a huge announcement when he informed the world that he has been cleared for in ring competition. It’s been confirmed that the former WWE Champion will be going one on one with Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam next month. Seth Rollins will be stepping into the special guest referee role for the match.
