This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw aired live from Atlanta, GA and the show featured the return of Brock Lesnar. The Beast Incarnate was accompanied to the ring by Paul Heyman, and The Oracle announced that Brock Lesnar is holding an open challenge for WrestleMania.
Heyman confirmed that Brock will be making five appearances on Raw ahead of WrestleMania, and Heyman promised destruction for anyone who wants to step up and face the former champion on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
The segment was recently discussed on WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, and it was speculated that the open challenge was announced because WrestleMania plans for Lesnar have not been set in stone.
“This feels like they have no idea what to do with Brock Lesnar at this point. The card continues to shuffle as everybody is well aware. Maybe the Brock Lesnar decision has yet to become official, set in stone, however you want to put it creatively. So, they knew he was going to be in Atlanta, and they said, ‘Well just go out there and issue an open challenge for WrestleMania.'”
It’s no big secret that the WrestleMania card is still in flux as only two matches have officially been confirmed for the show so far. WWE has given no indication regarding who Brock could face at the Show of Shows, but he has been confirmed for the following episodes of Raw on the road to WrestleMania:
March 16th – San Antonio, TX
March 23rd – Boston, MA
March 30th – New York, NY
April 6th – Houston, TX
April 13th – Sacramento, CA
Stay tuned for updates.
