Roman Reigns last appeared on WWE programming back in November when he teamed with CM Punk, Cody Rhodes and The Usos in the main event at Survivor Series. Following the match Roman teased a potential rematch with Cody Rhodes, and there was speculation that WWE could be setting up a third WrestleMania match for The American Nightmare and The Tribal Chief.
However, plans have changed in a big way following Drew McIntyre’s Undisputed WWE Championship win on SmackDown last week. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that two ideas for WrestleMania at this point are a triple threat with Cody Rhodes, Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre for the title, or just McIntyre vs. Rhodes in a singles match.
According to the report Roman Reigns will be the odd man out of the WWE title picture. Currently Roman Reigns is set to return at the Royal Rumble, and his direction is expected to become more clear during the show.
Roman Reigns has main evented WrestleMania multiple times and has competed in the main event at the last five WrestleManias, so it will be interesting to see who he ends up working with at the Show of Shows this year.
Stay tuned for updates.
