When Rey Mysterio Could Return To WWE, Nikki Cross Hypes Up Title Match

It’s been a busy year for Rey Mysterio. The former World Heavyweight Champion made his surprise WWE return at the Royal Rumble, and he later returned to WWE once again at the Greatest Royal Rumble in April.

This weekend Rey Mysterio is set to compete at NJPW Dominion, but it looks like a WWE return is still in the works.

Dave Meltzer recently noted on Wrestling Observer Live that as of last week Mysterio had not signed a deal with WWE, but there continues to be talk of bringing him back.

The feeling in WWE is that he may want to return to the company in September as he has commitments throughout the summer that he doesn’t want to cancel.

Next weekend the stars of NXT are set to invade Chicago for another Takeover event, and Nikki Cross will be challenging Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Championship.

Cross recently hyped up the title match on Twitter and declared that she’ll be taking the gold from Baszler.
