The wrestling world has been hoping for an AJ Lee return for a long time, but the former WWE Divas Champion has given no indication that she plans to return to the ring.
However, CM Punk recently got fans talking when he was asked who he wants to see in the Royal Rumble this weekend and he said, “Oooh! Hmm, there’s a big one that I’m not going to say, because I’m going to get in trouble.”
Fightful Select is reporting that those they’ve spoken to in WWE claimed they haven’t heard anything about an AJ Lee return, but if it were to happen it would kept extremely close to the vest.
Numerous talent in both WWE and AEW have joked about pulling AJ out of retirement over the years. However, there has never been a situation where it seemed like that idea would become a reality.
One WWE higher up noted that AJ looks like she would fit right in on TV, and if she decided that she wanted to be in the Royal Rumble match then it could happen. Regarding CM Punk referencing a surprise entrant and saying he would get in trouble, that same higher up believed Punk was joking he would get in trouble with AJ Lee if he brought the idea up.
