John Cena has been in the professional wrestling business for decades now and he solidified himself as one of the greatest of all time when he defeated Cody Rhodes to win his 17th world title at WrestleMania 41. Cena’s title win has been a hot topic over the last few weeks and Joe Hendry happened to be backstage right after Cena won the belt.
During a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Joe Hendry talked about John Cena’s big moment at WrestleMania, and he revealed that Cena gave him some advice right after he won the title.
“So I’m walking back from there, and at the same moment the match has just finished, John is walking back with his WWE Championship. He’s literally just become the greatest of all time. It’s now a fact he’s the greatest of all time. He’s walking back, and this is how awesome John is. Sees me, once he came out of Gorilla, immediately walks over to me.”
“Yes. We’d had conversations. He gave me advice at the Rumble, and as he said on Pat McAfee, I did my very best to implement that advice. He said that he feels I’m going to be a major player in this industry. Praise doesn’t come higher. So he came up to me, and there’s two camera crews. They’re filming this interaction. I’m like, I can’t believe the timing that this is happening. He’s just won the championship. I say, ‘John, congrats.’ He didn’t even want to talk about the fact that he just became the greatest. He wanted to give me advice, that’s who John is, right? He just said to me, ‘I told you exactly what you needed to do at the Rumble. You’ve taken it on board. You’ve done it. You had a good performance at the Rumble. You were brilliant tonight.’ Then John walks off.”
