The Royal Rumble pay-per-view took place from Minute Maid Park in Houston, TX on Sunday and it was reported prior to the event that Matt Riddle got into a verbal altercation with WWE Champion Brock Lesnar backstage at the event.
Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT is reporting that Brock Lesnar approached Matt Riddle, grabbed his shoulder to get his attention and said the following:
“Kid, you might as well stop saying my name and tagging me in sh*t because you and I will never work together. Ever.”
It’s also being said that Riddle tried to talk to Brock when they first had the encounter but wasn’t able to.
Lesnar reportedly said what he had to say and kept on moving. Riddle was said to have been cool and composed during the encounter.
It’s also being reported that Matt Riddle’s brief showing in the Royal Rumble match wasn’t a punishment stemming from the altercation, as it was always the plan.
