Roman Reigns is going to be the guy no matter what fans think. After all, WWE is essentially one big toy box and Vince McMahon is just nice enough to let us watch him play with his favorite real-life action figures. He obviously likes his Roman Reigns figure more than anyone else and that’s the way things are going to be.
The Backlash event was pretty great in a manner of speaking but it also left a lot to be desired. One thing is for sure, the fans in Newark didn’t seem to care much about the main event of the show because plenty of people were filing out of the building during the Roman Reigns vs Samoa Joe match who didn’t stick around to hurl discouraging chants toward the ring.
In all reality, it’s a good thing the WWE Championship match didn’t close out the show. After all, fans might have been even more upset about a main event that was called off when neither man could get to their feet.
But the New Jersey fans certainly didn’t seem to care much about The Big Dog vs The Samoan Submission Machine.
One insightful fan tweeted a video of fans abandoning ship during the main event match saying: “Dear Vince McMahon do you see this shit sir? Nobody is here for Roman!! Everybody is leaving Backlash … live at the Prudential Center. We have had CM Punk chants + This Is Boring chants !!! Vince we dont want him.”
This is a pretty bold statement but at this point, if Roman Reigns is working on his fourth possible match for the Universal Title even though he keeps falling short time and time again, it might not matter much to Vince McMahon if a bunch of people exit an arena early after he already got their ticket money.
