WWE is full of guys who can really get through the pain and excel at the highest caliber possible. As it would turn out there might not be anyone tougher on WWE’s active Superstar roster than WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne.
The Bruiserweight was recently supposed to do a show for Progress but he had to be replaced when he was forced to cancel. Normally Dunne wouldn’t cancel under many circumstances but on the night before Pete suffered a pretty gnarly injury.
We’re willing to bet Dunne didn’t want to cancel this event because he was set to defend his WWE United Kingdom Championship against Gentleman Jack Gallagher. That would have been a great match even if Gallagher didn’t bring his umbrella William III along with him.
Pete Dunn was wrestling at the Battle Pro Wrestling show in New York and ended up wearing a crimson mask. As you can see from the footage, Pete Dunne was able to fight through the pain and show everyone what British Strong Style is all about. But it still didn’t look like it felt very good.
Thanks to Brian The Guppie we can get an even closer look at the devastation going on that caused Pete Dunne to have to cancel the big Progress show in New York. Jack Gallagher said he would be there anyway though so at least the 205 Live Star still got to perform in front of the amazing crowd.
Hopefully, Pete Dunne will be all healed up and ready to go next time he has a match. This is the kind of thing an old-school guy like Dunne would probably have worked through if he didn’t have people watching out for his well-being. It’s one of the many “blessing and a curse” situations going on in today’s modern era of pro wrestling. But it kept Pete Dunne off at least one show.
